Baby Steps To Natural Living: DIY Cleaners

There are several great cleaner options on the market, and of course we think doTERRA's is the best, but if you're really wanting to save a penny AND use the very cleanest ingredients possible (can't get much cleaner than water!) then perhaps DIY is the route for you! These recipes involve doTERRA Essential Oils, meaning they are CPTG Certified Pure Therapeutic Grade, tested beyond industry standards and safe for the whole family!

There are so many great DIY cleaners. I'm going to highlight my favorite recipe at the bottom, but there are a few links you should definitely know about...

First of all, everyone needs an awesome multi-purpose cleaner. You can make your own using this recipe: https://doterra.com/US/en/blog/diy-all-purpose-spray

Another favorite, is using Arborvitae and Lemon essential oils as a wood polish. You just put a couple drops of each on a rag to clean and polish your wood furniture!

doTERRA has put together some great recipes and ideas on their BLOG:

My personal favorite recipe though, is this Soft Scrub Cleaner!
Cleaning the bathroom is not fun for most of us, especially when you have four boys like me! Haha!

Soft Scrub for Bath, Tile, and Toilet
Make in small batches and store in an airtight container. This is enough for two to four applications. This soft scrub is excellent for getting rid of soap scum, removing stains, and brightening your tile and toilet. To use, just apply and let it sit for 5-10 minutes and then scrub. Once done scrubbing, take a wet cloth and wipe clean.

Ingredients:
3/4 rounded cup baking soda
1/4 cup liquid castile soap (like Dr. Bronner's, look for unscented)
1 tablespoon water
1 tablespoon vinegar
5-10 drops Lemon essential oil

TIP: This scrub is also great to use to help clean your kitchen sink, refrigerator, or tile floors.

Directions:
  1. In bowl, combine baking soda and castile soap.
  2. Add water and stir.
  3. Add vinegar and essential oil. The consistency should be a soft paste.
  4. Store in airtight container.
  5. Add ingredients directly to partially drained bowl. As it reacts, scrub toilet.

I am a mommy of  SEVEN (yes 7) beautiful kids! They are amazing, wonderful, hilarious & the greatest babies I could ask for! I am married to my best friend & high school sweetheart, Michael.

In 2010 I began a blog as an outlet for my writing... and also to talk about how cute my kids were. I had no idea where it would take me. In 2012, after the birth of our 5th child, we began Wonderfully Made Birth. That same year, we received an Autism diagnosis for our 3rd child. A year later, in 2013, we joined doTERRA International as Wellness Advocates. The journey is not easy, but it is ours. Join me as I record our crazy life, inspire other mommas, & laugh along the way!

    Interests
I love to craft. I love to decorate. I am passionate about natural living & natural birthing. Sometimes I write stuff. I plan parties like my life depended on it. My favorite color is pink. My house is definitely NOT taupe. I typically cannot keep plants alive. I am only allowed to have dogs as pets because all others tend to have the same end result as the plants. Luckily my track record with kids is pretty good! Also, I drink a lot of coffee. And I really like tacos.
