Hi friends! I don’t know about you, but I like to feel like I really know the people that I follow; the people that I partner with in my business. So today, I’d like to give you a quick glimpse into WHO Michael and I are, HOW we got here, and WHERE we are going this year!
A little back story: We both grew up in conservative, Christian homes in the midwest. We both come from families with 3 children. I am the oldest sibling. Michael is the youngest sibling. Neither of our families were “into natural things” per say, however my grandma has been promoting a whole foods diet and exercise as proactive medicine for most of my life. We all just thought she was a little bananas. ;) Michael and I met at ages 12 & 13 at a church youth group function. We soon became best friends at 13 & 14, then started dating at 16 & 17. My family likes to remind me of a night when I was about 18, when I came home from one of our dates, flopped on my couch, and proclaimed dramatically that “I just want to be married already!” He was the one. And when I make a decision, watch out! We found out we were expecting our oldest on my 19th birthday. We were married in December of 2005 and the rest is history. We had a baby every 14-20 months for a while. Efton was born in 2005; Eliza in 2006; Eli in 2008; Ester in 2010. It was at this point that we were learning about something called Autism Spectrum Disorder. Eli was showing some concerning symptoms after a round of vaccinations that were given when he had an ear infection. We began to do things like change our diets, get regular chiropractic care, remove toxins from our home, and reduce our use of over the counter medications. These things helped, but not enough to feel like we had actual solutions. Ezrah was born in December of 2011. We ventured into our first home birth and I soon after attended my first birth educator training. I became a Childbirth Educator and Doula, so that I could be a voice to scared, intimidated mommas that having a baby DOESN’T HAVE TO BE TERRIBLE! In the spring of 2012, we were venturing into getting an ASD diagnosis when my best friend Teresa gave me a roller of an essential oil blend she had made, called Peaceful Child. We now know it as doTERRA’s “Peace” blend. I remember the day that I rolled it on Eli’s neck and let him breathe it in. It stopped his meltdown in its tracks. I watched it work before my eyes and from that moment on, I KNEW and BELIEVED IN the power that these beautiful gifts of the earth offer to us. I began using Peaceful Child daily for Eli’s behavioral concerns. I bought a trio of Lavender, Peppermint, and Lemon. The Lavender was what we used to calm him at night. I also used it to clear up a blocked duct while nursing. Then Peppermint took care of my headaches. And then Lemon took stickers off my hardwood floors. Soon, I discovered Balance! In my birth bag, I carried that trio + Balance. I wanted other mommas to discover what these oils could do! I am embarrassed to admit, that for one year, I only used these 5 oils… and I either bought them retail from our chiropractor, or when friends would let me “use their discount”. In early 2013, I FINALLY got started with doTERRA. I purchased the $35 membership with Balance… but then never used it. A year later, I finally ordered again with the oils I wanted for my upcoming home birth. I thought this might be a nice little addition to my Doula business as well! Easton was born in May of 2014. It was an emotionally rough birth for me, then 2 days later I spiked a fever that shut off my pituitary, therefore causing my milk to not come in for my newborn baby. I was processing through the emotions that had come with that birth, as well as the emotions that came with plans not going the way they were supposed to. I struggled with Postpartum Anxiety, Depression, and PTSD that was triggered from past experiences. I was not in a place to be able to support other mommas through Doula work at this time, but I desperately needed something- anything- that would breathe some life into me. As I sat in my bed one night at 3am, I was pumping what little milk I had to hand feed my little guy who would not latch and was failing to thrive. We were flat broke. We were exhausted. We had very little hope, outside of "God has gotten us though hard things before". I made a decision that no matter what we WOULD THRIVE. My friend Teresa had added me to a Facebook group called “Rockstarz”. It was with a doTERRA upline. I searched the group and saw a post that said “Launch your business and create an income with 6 Weeks To Elite”. I clicked the link and stayed up into the night watching these YouTube videos. I took notes. I made a plan. I was going to launch a doTERRA business! I scheduled a class and invited my uplines, friends, and family to come! Looking back, this is the funniest series of events I can imagine. As Allyse Sedivy hilariously pointed out to me recently, “you were just sitting there, bleeding your guts out and pumping breastmilk, while launching your business”… and that’s basically the truth! Haha! I taught my first class at 6 weeks postpartum. It had 15 attendees. I didn’t know how I was supposed to close the class, so I didn’t, and no one ordered. I walked through a couple of really dark months of Postpartum Depression after this. When I came out from under that cloud, I decided to launch this business again. This time I followed the 6 Weeks To Elite methods I had originally learned about, and I did not deviate. This was at the end of October. I achieved the rank of Executive in December, and then the rank of Elite in January 2015. I felt like I could be really great at this, but I just didn’t have the skills needed to continue moving forward! So, I joined a training program with our uplines, called Peak Performance. I was in our family room, logged onto my first ever "zoom" with the volume blaring. When Michael overhead the details of the compensation plan and the potential that residual income could provide for our family, he jumped on board with me. I’ll never forget the day he came to me and said, “So, I’ve been thinking about this doTERRA thing…” We were officially in this business together! In March, we hit the Premier rank. I had a TEAM. I had CUSTOMERS. I was DOING THIS! We miscarried a baby in April. I was still doing Doula work and continued working; keeping myself distracted. I needed, once again, for the business of helping and serving others to breathe much-needed life into me. I took on more clients, scheduled more birth classes, and taught anyone who would listen about essential oils. I started taking doTERRA's Lifelong Vitality supplements and began to see life-changing results. We found out at the end of May that we were expecting baby number 7!!! I spent the summer with ALL of the morning (ahem! all day) sickness. It was during this time that I learned the power of residual income! I was able to slowly, but surely, educate and empower people through social media, as I was so sick that couldn’t physically get out there and teach classes. Our paycheck continued to grow. It was baby steps, but it was growth! This business was supporting me during a time when I only had small windows of time to pour into it. We had our 7th baby, Eleanor, in February of 2016. Her birth and my postpartum experience after were nothing short of miraculous and magical, much thanks to the supplements and oils that were supporting my body, mind, and emotions. We pushed for Silver rank in June of 2016. We qualified for a program called Diamond Club. I traveled all over the country and solidified our Silver rank from August through November of that year, all with sweet Eleanor strapped to my body in a pink, chevron Tula. The following January, we partnered with some incredible leaders. And in July of 2017 we hit Gold rank, while on a Disney vacation with our kiddos; the vacation that was a celebration of us finishing in the Top 50 of Diamond Club. The momentum continued, and we reached Platinum rank that November of 2017, just four months later. This is the short version of my story, believe it or not. I wrote a book in March of 2019. If you are interested in more, I would love for you to read “Metamorphosis Of A Mommy” to learn the deeper parts of my journey. https://www.amazon.com/DP/B07PCRLW9F/REF=CM_SW_R_CP_API_I_DLSGCBNNN2YDM But it’s been just over 2 years of being in this “solid Gold but sometimes Platinum” place. I was able to retire from Doula work in summer of 2018. We have been doing this business for 5.5 (almost 6) years. We have a team of 1200 families. We've seen people able to go off of prescription drugs. We've watched lives change. We’ve seen a lot of people start this business, but we've also seen many leave. We’ve seen a lot of burnout, but then WOW have we seen a lot of successes. We’ve seen a lot of people make barely enough to cover their order, but not ever go beyond that. Then we’ve seen people earn a solid, part time income, just sharing about the products they love. We’ve personally seen (and tried) every possible way to build this business. What a ride it has been! Our goal NOW is the same as it was in the beginning: To educate our customers. To empower families. To offer hope for health, community, and financial freedom. Our methods are actually also very familiar to the early days, as well. We’ve just stepped into a place of deeper clarity. The oils are for everyone. The business can be for everyone also. We believe that by sticking to the basics and simplifying the steps required, it allows us all to put our own spin on things; to build in our own way. The foundation is the same. The people are what develop this into a beautiful spectrum of individuals who are creating the life and business that they desire. We are looking to partner with several new business builders this spring. These individuals should be driven, motivated, goal-oriented, confident, and be able to follow a system. We are seeking to help these individuals rank advance and reach goals quickly. Bonus points if you know your Enneagram number or Clifton Strengths. ;) If you are looking for someone to partner with YOU and you fit these qualifications, we would love to connect with you. We are currently sending samples out for our friends, family, and followers to be able to try out our products! We have solutions for everything from head tension and digestive struggles... to emotional support... to cleaning your home and removing toxic personal products... to feelings of anxiousness and mental concerns. What solutions do you need? We'd love to help you find what you are looking for! My words for the year: Duplication Clarity Intention We have big goals for 2020. We plan to hit Diamond rank by June and Blue Diamond rank by the end of the year. We will see our doTERRA team add 1000 more customers, whose lives now have hope for healing. I will continue to teach my children the importance of commitment, and finishing the things you have started; never giving up, even when it gets hard. So. Who's with me? Interests
I love to craft. I love to decorate. I am passionate about natural living & natural birthing. Sometimes I write stuff. I plan parties like my life depended on it. My favorite color is pink. My house is definitely NOT taupe. I typically cannot keep plants alive. I am only allowed to have dogs as pets because all others tend to have the same end result as the plants. Luckily my track record with kids is pretty good! Also, I drink a lot of coffee. And I really like tacos. |
