ACTION

This week, I have spent most of my time in ACTION. Even amidst jet lag, there was ALL. THE. ACTION.
.
When I’m in this place, I’m in the zone; I’m operating in my strengths. I have never been one to just sit. You can confirm this with my mother. My brain never rests. I have never been someone who just wants to talk about things. In my Clifton Strengths assessment, the following words are a part of my top ten: futuristic, maximizer, activator, focus... ACTION words! Even in seemingly silent stillness, my brain is moving onto my next step. I’m looking into the future. I’m always planning. I’m always moving. While my undiagnosed (but obvious) ADHD can be a struggle in group texts and conversations in loud rooms... the fact that my brain is always a million places at once means there is always forward movement. This is a guarantee.
.
Rest is work for me. It’s needed work, but takes effort nonetheless. And sleep? Oh boy. Sleep is a REQUIREMENT. When I sleep, my body recovers & my brain gets a break. So, for my fellow friends of action, I want to share my MOST FAVORITE trick for turning my brain off at night...
.
✨ I take 1 Adaptiv capsule, 1-2 Serenity softgels, and 1 Copaiba softgel about 30-45 minutes before I want to sleep. This combo helps my body’s stress response, reduces inflammation, soothes my emotions, and calms my brain. I wake up rested. It’s like a post-workout recovery for my thoughts.
✨ I begin diffusing Black Spruce (remember Thursday’s post?) and Serenity about 30 minutes before I want to sleep. Black Spruce helps me take deep breaths + release fears and stress. It’s restorative for my adrenals. Serenity is calming and promotes restful sleep.
✨ I do something that doesn’t require THOUGHT for that 30-45 minutes. I put on my blue ray glasses if it involves screens, so that that type of light doesn’t disrupt the rest I’m working so hard for. I may watch tv, scroll Instagram, read something for FUN, hang with my husband... whatever I do, it doesn’t require planning, to-do lists, or goals. I just get to be.
.
This simple, but needed routine helps me find REST, before I wake up ready for more action! ⚡️

I am a mommy of  SEVEN (yes 7) beautiful kids! They are amazing, wonderful, hilarious & the greatest babies I could ask for! I am married to my best friend & high school sweetheart, Michael.

In 2010 I began a blog as an outlet for my writing... and also to talk about how cute my kids were. I had no idea where it would take me. In 2012, after the birth of our 5th child, we began Wonderfully Made Birth. That same year, we received an Autism diagnosis for our 3rd child. A year later, in 2013, we joined doTERRA International as Wellness Advocates. The journey is not easy, but it is ours. Join me as I record our crazy life, inspire other mommas, & laugh along the way!

    Interests
I love to craft. I love to decorate. I am passionate about natural living & natural birthing. Sometimes I write stuff. I plan parties like my life depended on it. My favorite color is pink. My house is definitely NOT taupe. I typically cannot keep plants alive. I am only allowed to have dogs as pets because all others tend to have the same end result as the plants. Luckily my track record with kids is pretty good! Also, I drink a lot of coffee. And I really like tacos.
